D's Story & Background
Q: How was D's Pieces Of Wisdom started?
A: Writing is a hobby that I am very passionate about, and puzzles are something I enjoy doing to keep my brain sharp. In 2008, I published my first award winning Children's Chapter book, in the Sir Licksalot Series. I wrote to ignite a child's interest to read, and then left a paw print on their heart. To attract parents as customers, I penned some poems & philosophical thoughts. One is still in the top 50 for all genre's on Authors Den for several years now, and others are still sitting in the top 20 for their specific genre. Unfortunately, in 2018 (after a very fun decade) my publisher closed their doors, and the books are no longer available in print. I spent a couple years trying to decide what was going to be my next creative adventure.
During the 2020 pandemic, I had time on my hands and I decided to combine my interests of writing, photography, and puzzles, creating these little mysteries in a box, that will challenge the minds of teenagers and adults. It is my hope that piecing together the puzzles, leaves a lasting positive thought that can brighten someone's day and be shared for generations.
Q: What are the hidden messages?
A: The hidden messages are words of wisdom that provide inspiration and encouragement. Ranging from topics of nature's beauty, personal growth, and the journey we call life.
The message can be two sentences, or many sentences, perfectly nestled within the symbolic picture. Over the years many people commented, "My friend needs to read this!", others have said, "I needed to hear this today." These puzzles are the perfect way to uniquely give the gift of positivity.
Q: What is upcoming?
A: There is so much negativity out in the world, and so many people trying to bring others down. In 2024, I would like to spend my time lifting people up with daily affirmation puzzles.
Sometimes a small missing piece is all that is needed to see the full picture. In this analogy, the missing piece is how you see yourself.
These daily releases can be located in the "Affirmations" & "Positive Thoughts" categories of puzzles. The message is not hidden in these puzzles. However, piecing it together provides a second opportunity to manifest the thought. Over 100 types of animals, birds, and reptiles will be featured.
Q: Why can't I purchase online?
A: Due to soaring shipping fees, I closed down my ecommerce site after the puzzles sold out. Maybe in the future, I will make more puzzles available for purchase.
Q: What are the commemorative editions?
A: The Simple Life and Pandemic puzzles include messages that will take you back to the 2020 pandemic. Future generations will ask what it was like, these puzzles provide two perspectives.
Q: Where do you get your ideas from?
A: Being kind and being positive are more than just mottos, they are essential tools to live a healthy and happy life. Spreading positivity just comes naturally to me, sharing it in an interactive way for free, is my way of reminding people, "kindness doesn't cost anything".
